New ILOMOCA gallery shines light on victims of sexual abuse

Mandurriao, Iloilo City – The Iloilo Museum of Contemporary Art (ILOMOCA), in collaboration with Cameleon Association, Inc., recently conducted a special art workshop for children and adolescents under the care of the Cameleon Association. Cameleon Association is an international solidarity organization dedicated to supporting girls who have been victims of sexual violence.

This unique workshop culminated in the creation of collaborative artworks painted with acrylics on canvas, inspired by the central question: "How can I help my community?" The resulting pieces reflected the collective aspirations and resilience of the participants.

The powerful artworks will be showcased in an exhibit titled "Akon Istorya, Aton Istorya" from June 1 to 17, 2024, at the ground floor museum lobby of ILOMOCA. Each piece, while seemingly simple, carries profound meaning and a resonant voice that echoes the hopes and dreams of these young artists as they unite with one voice and one heart.

ILOMOCA opened in 2018 as the first museum in the Visayas region dedicated to modern and contemporary art. Located within Festive Walk Iloilo, the museum’s primary advocacy is to promote art as a means of enriching the Ilonggo community through relevant exhibitions and programs.
