  • Lucky Chinatown
Mar 21, 2019

Doll dress designers take part in Lucky Chinatown’s month-long celebration of Women’s Month. From March 18-24, doll collections from different fashion enthusiasts gather for the exhibit featuring different iconic outfits of women in the Philippines. If you’re really into it, you can also purchase the dolls and its proceeds will be donated to the Fil Chi Home for the Aged Women.

Be mesmerized with some of the collections from different artists that you can witness at Lucky Chinatown:

Alvin Dave Ocampo

24-year old Alvin Dave “Bin” Ocampo shows elegant dolls inspired by Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray in her famous lava gown designed by Mark Tumang and Miss Universe 2016 Pia Wurtzbach in her Sapphire Gown designed by Albert Andrada.

Pia Wurtzbach’s take on her National Costume designed by Albert Andrada.

Catriona Gray’s National Costume designed by Jearson Demavivas.

Marian Rivera’s wedding gown designed by Michael Cinco.

Shiela Ella Gatchalian

Another fashion doll designer Shiela Ella Gatchalian puts her astounding designs inspired by a mix of traditional and modern Filipiniana.

Chelssy Shih

Bridal gown designer Chelssy Shih has also been making waves with her fashion doll pieces apart from her signature couture bridal designs.

Merri Chan

Merri Chan’s design is a modern Cinderella -- it’s essentially a twisted cheongsam with elements of both Filipio and Chinese cultures. The mandarin collar paired with a more lose silhouette of the top, and the ball skirt made with local jusi material for a Filipino Flair. The embroidery is an abstraction of butterflies and wisteria flowers as wisteria symbolizes respect and professionalism in feng shui.
