Swaadisht Indian Cuisine and Bar is fast-becoming the favorite go-to restaurant for everyone looking for a taste of Indian food in Manila — and for a yummy reason! From the moment you enter Swaadisht, you will be immediately transported to that local Indian restaurant experience with their decors in warm colors that are reminiscent of the diverse and vibrant country.
In Hindi, Swaadisht means “delicious” and that’s exactly what they serve. The concept of the whole restaurant revolves around offering the best authentic Indian cuisine in Manila. “By authentic, we mean cooking food the traditional way (no shortcuts), using fresh spices flown in from India, and using traditional Indian cooking methods,” said Swaadisht Director Monica de Leon.
According to her, the restaurant is fast becoming known in the Indian expat community as the best when it comes to authentic Indian cuisine. “We pride ourselves in coming up with exceptional curries, vegetarian, tandoor items and breads and biryanis. We have the best prawn tandoori (spiced just right, grilled just right) in town,” De Leon shares. “One Indian guest told us that our gulab jamun reminded him of his grandma’s version–no shortcuts, made with love, made exactly how an authentic gulab jamun should taste.”
Swaadisht is sure to make repeat customers out of those who try their food for the first time. Credit that to their hardworking kitchen team and the gastronomic mastery of their executive chef, Bishnu Khatri. A Nepalese-Indian, he has vast training and practice through his work in various hotel restaurants in India.
Their best-sellers include Tandoori, which comes in selections of prawn, chicken, mutton seekh kebab, chicken tikka, fish tikka, and more; Rogan Josh, a lamb dish cooked in spiced tomato based curry; vegetarian meal Dals; Murgh Makhani or butter chicken; Hyderabadi biryani for rice/biryanis; and more. For drinks, you should try their Lassi, which is a yoghurt-based drink that they make from scratch; and their signature Masala tea.
Their newly-opened branch at the 3/F of Uptown Mall in BGC has a main dining room with picture windows, and a breathtaking al fresco dining area with 180 degree view of Uptown Bonifacio’s neighborhood. Swaadisht implements social distancing, completion of contract tracing forms, availability of sanitation items all over the restaurant, and a contactless browsing of menu via QR codes. The staff also takes care of sterilization of the restaurant to ensure the safety of every customer.
